Legal / Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023

Privacy policy.

What this website collects about you, why, who else handles it, and what Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 lets you do about it.

This policy covers magikmultimediasolutions.com only. It follows Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 (the NDPA) and the guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (the NDPC), which enforces it. It describes what this website actually does today. We look at it again whenever the site changes in a way that affects your information, not on a fixed timetable.

01What this site does

magikmultimediasolutions.com is a simple website, hosted by a company called Vercel. There are no logins, no accounts and no database behind it: every visitor sees the same pages. The only time the site receives anything from you is when you choose to fill in the enquiry form on the contact page. We built it this way on purpose, so that there is very little about you for us to hold in the first place.

02What we collect, and why

The only personal information this site collects is what you choose to give us in the enquiry form on the contact page:

  • your name, how you would like us to reply (WhatsApp, a phone call or email), and your phone number, your email address or both
  • which part of MAGIK your enquiry is for, what it is about, roughly when, and your message
  • for a Tech enquiry, and only if you choose to tell us, what your business or organisation runs on today
  • for a Pathways enquiry, who is filling in the form, the player's age band (the form never asks for a player's name or date of birth), and your agreement that we may use these details to reply
  • the page on this site you were reading before the contact page, which the site fills in for you, and the address of the page the form was sent from

When you press send, a small program that runs on this website (on Vercel) emails your enquiry to our inbox at magikmultimedia@gmail.com, using Resend, an email delivery service. We collect your details for one reason only: to read your enquiry and reply to it.

Your IP address is the number that identifies your internet connection. When you send the form, that small program remembers it for up to ten minutes, only to stop anyone flooding the form with messages. It is not saved anywhere or written into any record.

The site uses no cookies and saves nothing in your browser. It shows no adverts, does not follow you around other websites, and at the moment it does not count or measure visits at all (no analytics). If that changes, for instance if we start counting visits, we will update this policy to say so before it happens, not after (see If this policy changes below).

03Why we are allowed to use it

The NDPA says we need a proper legal reason to use anyone's personal information. For the enquiry form, we have two:

  • You agreed. You chose to type your details in and press send. The law calls this consent.
  • We have a fair and limited need. We use your details only to reply to you, and to keep the form working and free of abuse, and neither of those outweighs your own rights and interests. The law calls this a legitimate interest.

We never use what you send us for anything else: not for marketing, not to build a profile of you, and not for a mailing list.

04Who else handles it

Three companies handle your enquiry between you pressing send and us reading it. None of them sees more than it needs to run the site or deliver your message:

  • Vercel hosts this website and the small program that sends your enquiry on. Like any web host, Vercel keeps standard records of visits to the site, including IP addresses, as part of running its service. The small program does not write what you type into any record.
  • Resend is the email delivery service our website uses to send your enquiry to our inbox. To deliver it, Resend keeps a copy of the email, including everything you typed into the form, on its computers in the United States. It keeps that copy for 30 days and then deletes it. It is a service we use, not one we built, and its own privacy information is on its website.
  • Google carries the email to us, because magikmultimedia@gmail.com is a Gmail address: your enquiry passes through Google's email system on its way, like any email sent to a Gmail address.

Vercel, Resend and Google handle information outside Nigeria, mainly in the United States. We use them because delivering your enquiry needs them, and each one publishes its own data protection terms.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for marketing or advertising.

05How long we keep it

We have not set a fixed number of months or years, because a number like that is easy to make up and hard to keep to. In practice, we keep an enquiry email for as long as it takes to reply to you, and for a reasonable time afterwards in case the conversation carries on or we need the record for our own business. If you would like your email deleted sooner, just ask and we will do it.

Separately, Resend keeps its copy of the email for 30 days after sending and then deletes it. If you ask us to delete your enquiry, we will delete it from our inbox straight away, and Resend's copy will be gone within those 30 days.

06Your rights

The NDPA gives you rights over your own personal information. You can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you
  • correct it if it is wrong
  • delete it
  • stop using it for a particular purpose
  • give you a copy of it in a form you can take elsewhere

To do any of these, email magikmultimedia@gmail.com or write to us at 225 UND Street, Apo Mechanic Estate, Abuja. Because we hold so little (enquiry emails, and not much else), most requests are quick to sort out.

07No decisions by computer

No computer program makes decisions about you, and we do not build a profile of you. Every enquiry that reaches us is read and answered by a person.

08Children

This site is not aimed at children. The enquiry form is for adults: people asking for themselves or for an organisation and, for MAGIK Pathways, a parent or guardian asking about a young player.

If a player under 18 starts a Pathways enquiry, the form asks them to have a parent or guardian fill it in instead, and nothing they typed is sent. When a parent or guardian writes about a player, the form asks only for the player's age band, never their name or date of birth, and we use it only to reply. For players under 18, every step starts with a parent or guardian.

09Keeping it safe

Every page of the site reaches you over a secure, encrypted connection (the padlock in your browser's address bar). Vercel also applies standard protections, including strict rules about what the site's pages are allowed to load, which make the site hard to misuse. Your enquiry travels from the site to Resend and on to our Gmail inbox over encrypted connections. We do not keep another copy of it in a database of our own, because we do not have one.

10If you are unhappy with us

If you think we have handled your personal information wrongly, please tell us first at magikmultimedia@gmail.com so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain directly to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (the NDPC), which enforces the NDPA, at ndpc.gov.ng.

11If this policy changes

This policy describes what the site does today. If that changes, for instance if we start counting visits, add logins, or collect information in a new way, we will update this page before the change goes live, so it never describes a site that no longer exists. The version published here when you read it is the one that applies.
